Michael Tedesco *

1949 - 1981

From the very beginning Michael was interested in trains.
The first were under the tree. Then, as a little boy, to the tracks
to watch and record the sounds and take snapshots. His interests
included collecting anything to do with the rails. China, silverware, menus,
hardware, timetables, and of course slides. His earliest pictures were
prints, then he started shooting slides in the late 60's.

Michael had an academic degree in Biology, but
his first job from college was with the railroad in Buffalo, NY.
He was a conductor on runs between Buffalo and Cleveland, OH.
He worked long hours, but in whatever free time Mike had he would
do what he loved and that was collecting anything to do with railroads.
Traveling and taking pictures of the railroad, locomotives and anything
of interest to railfans was very much what Michael was about.
He had many friends and acquaintances who shared his
love and interest in things railroad.

Michael died early in life, a few days short of his
32nd birthday, August 6th 1981, in a plane crash. Many
railfans knew and respected Michael. Those who knew him
best agree he was the greatest railfan they ever knew.
