Meet the

RAIL SLIDE PHOTOGRAPHERS

How the Photographers are Rated

.
We use a simple scale from one * to four ****. This does not mean that every slide a particular photographer shoots lives up to his rating. Everybody shoots a clunker now and then, and everybody shoots at least one great slide, but the rating represents a general level of quality you can expect from a particular photographer.
* (one star) The minimum level to be included in "Who's Who."
This suggests the photographer's work usually lives up to an
excellent technical quality, though may sometimes be devoid
of pictorial/journalistic value. Though * is the entry level,
this is still a very good rating for collectibility

** is all the above but also encompasses a certain degree of
pictorial/journalistic value. This photographer's work is very
desirable as far as a collector is concerned

*** this rating suggests the photographer's shots are not only
technically superb and pictorially important, but has a certain
"personality" that is easily recognized and very sought-after
by collectors and publishers

**** is as good as it gets. You gotta have at least a couple of
this guy's slides in your collection!
